The Mississippi Legislature is considering several election and voting related bills this session. Among them is HB 373 which offers online voter registration to first-time voters.
The House Apportionment and Elections Committee passed the bill last week.
Rep. Bill Denny, R-Jackson, introduced legislation similar legislation last year that would have offered online voter registration to all eligible voters, however, the Senate “rejected online registration for first-time voters and only enabled already-registered voters to change addresses online.”
Mississippi’s Secretary of State’s office has said more than 1,000 voters have updated their addresses online since September 2016.
